Further to this question I've now moved on to Volume 2 of Walsh (Fourth Edition) which seems more sophisticated in its layout and has a higher print quality. Many of the tunes have "Each Strain Twice" underneath and following discussions it has been decided that I will add repeats and alter the footnote to reflect the changes that have been made, like so:

This post is a bit tongue in cheek as the piece is so incredibly hard to play but I do love these variation sets. This comes from volume 2 of Kohler's Violin Repository and is by far the longest piece of its kind I've ever come across. This one should get Profrat reaching for his concertina!

Steve, the composer was Roger Talroth from Vasen, I thought the name looked odd! He also wrote the wonderful Josefin's Dopvals and the Falling Polska, great tunesmith.

Scan of volume two is here. Maggie Lawder is the second tune. The ABC I posted (from volume 2) was transcribed by John Chambers of "JCs Tunefinder" fame. I have the ABC's (and scans of the originals) for all three volumes if you'd like them?
