Jody Kruskal
May has been a very busy month for me. I’m a teaching artist in the schools around here and the work is seasonal. Now is the season. No time to record a tune for my site, so I thought that I would put up a link to this exceptional video. The Papa Stour Long Sword Dance performed by Half Moon Sword. Jeff Bary recorded this at our Sunday Brooklyn Museum of Art stand, February 17, 2008 at the annual Sword Ale in NYC. We are the host team and it was a great Ale this year with nine teams invited. Much lox and bagels were consumed as well as the wine and beer. Too bad there were no UK teams this time around... perhaps next year? Pig Dyke Molly, where are you? The Papa Stour dance has a splendid tune and we have our own way with it. Quite a different sound from the two fiddles (Michael and Hilary) that I remember, yet the "feel" is much the same. And so are a couple of the faces. Many thanks for that!
