Kelteglow Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Advertised on E Bay Early Lachenal 30 Button. The Seller has given his location as Cornish Riviera.I ask to see it as thats where I live but he refused saying ,he is never in.The question so far has not been posted on E Bay.What do you think? KerryFrank Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 The seller also doesn't realize the first company title was actually LOUIS LACHENAL & Company, rather than Lachenal & Company. This could be a mis-statement but with the first poster's info, I'd be leery of buying. Kerry

Bob, I presume you mean this one, in which case it is also discussed under Coincidence Or What? The seller also doesn't realize the first company title was actually LOUIS LACHENAL & Company, rather than Lachenal & Company. This could be a mis-statement but with the first poster's info, I'd be leery of buying. Actually no, the first name was simply Louis Lachenal, there was no "& Company", and I'd be leery of buying off anybody who said there was... Anyway, the label in the seller's photo is clearly a Lachenal & Co. one.
Christian Husmann Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Hello Bob, by the way, if you look closely at one of the pictures you´ll see the bottom side of the action board. You´ll see on the close-up that the wood there has moved a lot and there is on the very top a crack between two side bars of the instrument. Not a good sign though... Christian

That sort of deterioration is pretty much standard for an unrestored instrument.
