Robin Harrison Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Does anyone have a copy of this out-of-print music book?I'm trying to track down Eastwell Park and this is the only place I can find it. thanks Robin
Robert Booth Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Ooops! I saw the tag line and thought you were talking about beer. As a home brewer I favor Kent Golding Hops for bittering the wort; it's a variety developed in Kent and one of the best available Good luck with your search, Robert
Pete Dunk Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Hello Robin. I've had very little luck so far tracing any mention of 'Kentish Hops' but I'm on the case. As it happens we spent Christmas at Eastwell Manor which is only twelve miles or so away from where we live; it's an impressive old country pile now converted to an hotel. Eastwell Park is of course the land surrounding the Manor House, now largely sold off. There must be a local library that has this book and therefore the ISBN. Keep your fingers crossed!
Leo Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Hi Robin ISBN-10: 095142856X ISBN-13: 978-0951428566 Product Dimensions: 11.6 x 8.7 x 0.7 inches Available from Amazon.com. Both in the US. Thanks Leo
Robin Harrison Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 Thanks guys...............I saw the book at Amazon ( one was offered for US$219.00 which was why I thought I'd try here first !) I've been selectively listening to the Anglo International CD's and have totally fallen in love with Andy Turner's playing and so am trying to play Sadlor's Baloon and Eastwell Park. They are not difficult tunes to learn by ear but I like to have sheet music as a reference. I also note that Eastwell Park was not on the tune list on the Kentish Hops book you highlighted Leo.But Andy does say Kentish Hops "Series" Again your help is appreciated Robin
Leo Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Robin I took a look at the track listing on the CD, and the title on disc3 says: "3.: Sadlor's Baloon/Eastwell Park - Turner, Andy". Which leads me to believe that there is another name for the same tune. I'm not sure, but this may be it: http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/cgi/abc/tunefi...00&thresh=5 http://www.angloconcertina.co.uk/anglo_international.pdf has the reference. Another book which supposedly has the tune is "House Halls and Parks", but I lost the page in the search and can't find it again. I don't suppose a PM, or Email to Alan Day would have any information on the notes. Since he's instrumental in the CD, it might be worth pursuing. Just a thought or two. Thanks Leo
haimson Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 It seems to be available for $9.25 from CDSS: CDSS English Dance Catalog Simons, A. (Charles Learthart & Derek Jones, eds.) Robin Harrison Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 Your first post ,David !!! Welcome. I'll email them, but I believe this book has been out of print for a number of years and they have not yet updated the page (hence the ridiculous $219 Amazon price tag) I've tried to buy it three or four times over the past years or so from store that don't update. Thanks for the heads up,anyway Robin
haimson Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Now I'm intrigued. Let me know if they still have it. I looked for John Kirkpatrick's Opus Pocus for months before finding a copy in Germany.
Pete Dunk Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Robin, Pop this into the Convert-A-Matic. The original tune is in A but I've transposed it to D and G too.
