Exactly the same scam happened with a wooden flute a few weeks ago. The seller had no feedback, and the listing contained pictures of a flute that I had bought in the summer.

I also reported it to ebay and the listing was removed within a few hours.

It's worth reminding folk that paypal only provides £50 insurance to buyers who purchase from sellers who have less than 25 feedback, although you can raise a dispute and they will do their best to recover funds. But I would be very very cautious about buying from any ebayers who don't have a track record of successful buying and selling.

Of course there is then the complication of fake sellers with stolen identities and hence lots of good feedback................

eBay removed the listing.

Bidder Beware!!!

The Edeophone currently listed on eBay,

has the same description & pictures as the one that I sold in November 2007. The winning bidder notified me that he is not the seller.

Well, I contacted Ebay about this possible cloning yesterday and this is their reply.

Dear Chris,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your report on image and text

theft.

I reviewed your information about the possibility of image and text

theft. At this time, I didn't find sufficient evidence to show that the

member has violated any eBay policies.

Please understand that in some situations members will allow others to

use their images. It's also possible that the members acquired the photo

from the same source or a source that we can't verify. If this is the

case, eBay can't remove the listings.

We will be able to take action only if the person who owns the image or

text writes to us directly. If you feel strongly about this issue, I

recommend that you contact the seller, informing him or her about your

concerns and recommending that he or she contact eBay. Once we hear from

the seller, we will then take the appropriate action.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.

Sincerely,

Eliot

eBay Customer Support

It looks like someone convinced them to have the listing removed in the end. :)

I also notified Ebay this AM that the listing appeared dubious, and they withdrew it. But the seller almost immediately relisted it.

I couldn't find the relisting. Please provide the item number or link.
