steven r. arntson
I can't imagine this is a fabulous instrument, but I was curious if anyone knows anything about H J Ward and sons? http://cgi.ebay.com/ANTIQUE-H-J-WARD-SONS-...1QQcmdZViewItem
mthatcher61
That looks pretty fab to me. I would guess that it is a Rosewood Lachenal, probably steel reeded, that was sold with the music stores name on it. I'll bet there are a few people watching that, just waiting to pounce. Stephen Chambers
... I was curious if anyone knows anything about H J Ward and sons? Founded in 1848, they were a well-known Liverpool music shop and manufacturers of military musical instruments, indeed their trade mark (seen unclearly either side of their name on a bellows frame of this instrument) is an image of a military bass-drum player with the slogan "Beats the World". The only information I have about the 67, Dale St. address, at the moment, is that it is listed as a secondary one in my 1903 Directory. They sold concertinas manufactured for them by Lachenal's.
