a40a40 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Sorry if this has been asked before somewhere, but I haven't seen it . Is there a chord chart in publication (along the same lines as the guitar chord books readily available in music shops) which show which buttons to press for all the various chords?
chris Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Hi Type 'chord chart english' into the search bit on the home page should find something (did for me) chris
Alan Day Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 It would be a good exercise for you to write all your notes down left hand and right hand and then work your way through a standard chord chart. It is something you will have to do at some point to fully understand your instrument. This is good practice for all types of concertina. There will be many chord options for English when the old book is in digital format (See rare book thread in History section) and although complicated should be a great asset to the English System Al
a40a40 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 HiType 'chord chart english' into the search bit on the home page should find something (did for me) chris Thanks chris. Just what I was looking for William Meredith's chart graphically shows the relationship between the Major and Minor chords. I'm going to use that kind of layout now to create my own charts for "sevenths, diminisheds"... etc as Alan Day points out it will be good practice to understand the concertina. As you'll have guessed, I'm new to the instrument
moonsagotunes Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) Hmm, some of my old links will show up in searches. I have a lot of broken links. I don't know if my own charts will make any sense to others without a lot of explanation, but anyway, you can see my own method of visualizing chords and so on if you check my site. Go to postpoems.com/members/bbelletunes (or, bellowbelle.net or .com - same place) and click on BlogBits, then the 'Visuals' posting. I don't tend to use charts much, but if I think I may forget something specific that I wish to remember, I notate it on a chart. Edit added: This post below, from another thread, gives links to the charts usually referred to: try http://www.concertina.net/images/wm_english_chords_right.jpg and http://www.concertina.net/images/wm_english_chords_left.jpg Neil.
