Chris Droney Kitchen Session From Clare Fm

Recommended Posts

Nice interview of Chris Droney on this past Sunday's Kitchen Session from Clare FM. Now in all fairness to a previous comment that it is a contrived session. So it may be, but it is still live music captured, many times with dancers. It is also a chance to hear players not normally on recordings put together for music played at a very high standard. So I am enjoying this one.

T'was I who said it was contrived. I enjoyed hearing Chris talk (the potato story is wonderful) and I liked the singing. But -- is her name Paula ?-- and her "In your own time now, lads" and her continual gushing of "Lovely," "wonderful," "I luv it..." got a bit too saccharine for me. I'm glad there is such a program, but it isn't near the top of my list. A session is hardly ever so structured. It probably would be rather boring to hear an actual live session with a mike left on to capture idle chat and tuning and false starts. So for commercial radio this is as good as we can hope for. And I certainly don't want to detract from the pleasure people get from the program.
