Early Jones Anglo

Hi Folks!

Recently picked this one up on ebay from Canada (the seller got it from a local auction in a mixed lot of instruments). Thought it was interesting as it had 2 Lucas Place written on the label, which from my calculations puts it at some time in the 1860's (serial number 2815). I haven't seen this more basic fret pattern on a 'Jones' before.

Any more info always appreciated!

Hi Dave,

I wouldn't trust calculations in this case, even though I often provide them! If you haven't seen it, you can read more about Jones

here written by his grandson Frank Butler. The move to Lucas Place was about 1861, and it was renamed as 350 Commercial Road in 1874 (see Note 8 on page 13). So your box seems to be between these two dates, and probably nearer the earlier one. Nice find! Please can we have some pictures of the action if you disassemble it further?

thanks .. wes
