Ken_Coles
After many suggestions over the years, we're experimenting with a new subforum here. I've moved in two threads that inspired the idea (it's funny to read what I wrote in one of them several years ago). If others belong here, you are welcome to suggest them to me privately; all requests will be arbitrarily (and probably slowly) dealt with! May I suggest some guidelines: The interest here is in performances (audio or video) of concertina. They should be readily viewed and not of questionable legitimacy (e.g., links to mps swapping sites of copyrighted music will be deleted). I'd suggest that CD reviews, festival reports, etc. are better placed in the General Discussion section; links to performances you can watch or hear on the web go here. A project like the Concertina Big Band would certainly fit here. If other ideas come up I'll add them here. I hope this promotes the sharing among this widely scattered community that you all find so useful. Ken
Pete Dunk
Would this be the best section of the forum for discussions regarding audio and video hardware and software? Odd discussions pop up now and again regarding the relative merits of recorders, mics/pickup devices and software for editing audio and video files in order to create the web based media referred to in the threads here. Just a thought. Pete.
Ken_Coles
Pete, My own feeling is to keep that in General (or wherever it was) and stick to recorded perfomances (rather than how to record them) here. My tuppence. Ken
steven r. arntson
Is there a way to produce an RSS feed for this section of C-net? That's how I mostly view the site, but I don't see a feed for this section when I click the little icon at the bottom of the page. It's okay if not, of course, but I thought I'd check. Thank you! steven

cboody
Are you looking for new things or old favorites? It might be good to have the older things in one place....
steven r. arntson
Yes, I'm mainly interested in keeping up with new things when they're posted---I consume most of my media through RSS, so I don't come by the actual website very often.

Jody Kruskal
Not only that... the harp is a double strung chromatic. An interesting thing in and of itself. Am I correct in thinking that this harp is set up like an English concertina with a scale played left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right, etc? Like a Kora? Can't be if it's chromatic. It's a mystery!
Jody Kruskal
Hey Ken, Thanks for starting Videos And Music. After posting in this sub-forum, I've decided that it's not so great. Here's why. If lots of new vids and audio were to be entered here, there's no way to browse them. The titles are buried within a single post. Whereas with posting individual entries into the forum: Concertina Videos & Music... it's easy to browse the titles and all the stats about who, what, where, when, how many views, last commented on etc. This is valuable info as we each decide if further investigation is worth our time. Ken_Coles
Um...Jody, that is the whole idea. If you look at the date of the first post, it was seven years ago. This was the very first thread in a then-new subforum. A new, recent post to the thread asked us to turn on the rss feed. That is now done. I was just about to come on this thread and ask everyone else to start new threads for their video news and ideas. Glad we are now on the same page (so to speak) Ken
