susannah franks Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 This is a 48 nickel key wheatsone with rosewood ends. 5 fold black leather bellows and in concert pitch. Circa 1890. It has a really lovely deep, mellow tone. Comes with a tidy brown leather case. Asking price is £1100.
Pete Dunk Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Yours is older than the one I bought recently (1916) but I'm surprised there is no serial no. because it looks mostly original. Are the reeds steel or brass? If they're brass like mine then I fear the price is a bit high. You say it has a deep tone, perhaps it's a tenor which is quite desirable. Is it lower in pitch than the other concertinas you have?

The pitch is not lower. The reeds are definitely steel and not brass. Susannah
