An Unusual Failure On An Edeophone Lever

I thought you might like to see this. I have never seen a failure like it before.

 

The problem displayed with a slow sluggish lever. The brass lever has split down the middle, causing the lever to drag at the fulcrum.

I've seen old metal parts fail in that manner, but only when they were made as some sort of lamination (braised or forge-welded). Do any of the other levers show signs of lamination?

No, that was the only one. It does not appear to be laminated as the fissure is pretty jagged. I braized it and put it back into service.
