JimLucas Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Having almost completed a long and detailed response to some questions by Paul Groff, suddenly the screen flashed and the contents of both the QUOTE and composition windows was reset to the initial state (composition window empty, QUOTE window containing full text of prior message). I was shocked and very upset! Is there some secret character sequence which signals "Refresh" to the browser? Maybe something where I accidentally hit the control key instead of the shift key? Is it a "feature" of the Forum, or of my browser (MS Internet Explorer), or of browsers in general? Is there any way to recover from it? (ctl-Z didn't work) Is there any way to disable it?
goran rahm Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Jim, Seemingly the same thing happened to me yesterday. I don't know at all any relation to a specific maneuvre. Goran
Henk van Aalten Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 I had the same problem this morning. Henk
Dave Prebble Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Hi All, I had similar happen to me some time back and also my internet connection is not too stable, so for longer submissions, I compose in a word document then cut and paste. A bit of a pain, but better than losing a couple of pages of typing. Some of the formatting lacks compatability so it's best to preview post if doing this. Dave
JimLucas Posted January 11, 2004 Author Posted January 11, 2004 ...for longer submissions, I compose in a word document then cut and paste. I sometimes do that, too, but this time I got involved and forgot. Actually, I cut and paste in the Word document, then just copy the final result and preview it for mistakes. I guess it'll be a while before I forget again, but it seems to me I really shouldn't have to do that. Some of the formatting lacks compatability so it's best to preview post if doing this. Yeah, I type in the tags the way they should be here, but I always preview.
