Francis Sedgemore Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 (edited) Bernard Loffet Touptit D/G melodeon for sale NOW SOLD I know it's not a concertina, but you could think of this single-voice, small-bodied melodeon as an oversized anglo-concertina in D/G. :-) I have for sale an as-new condition Bernard Loffet Touptit model melodeon in D/G. This is a small, single-voice instrument of similar dimensions to a Castagnari Lilly, and with a richer sound than the Castagnari. The reeds are Antonelli Dural. Bernard Loffet is a Breton accordion builder with a glowing reputation. I've only had the Touptit for a matter of weeks, but have decided to sell it for financial reasons. I bought it second-hand, but the first owner only had the melodeon for a few weeks, and didn't like it as it was for him too loud! It is still effectively a new instrument as the reeds have yet to break in. See Bernard's website for details. The Touptit is featured at the bottom of the page, and there are a number of pictures available. Picture of mine can be found in this post. The melodeon comes with straps and a padded case, and the price is GBP 700, or the equivalent in Danish kroner, or Euros (cash only). I'm staying in SE London at present, and have the instrument with me here. A personal visit to see the melodeon for yourself is certainly an option. Edited May 23, 2007 by Francis Sedgemore

Saw the man himself, and two of his instruments, only two days ago. Chris Shaw plays one, so that is a good recommendation. Regards, Peter.

It's a great instrument, and if there are any concertina players out there who are after a small, very dry-tuned (!) melodeon, this is the one for you.
