mike delta Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Hi, I know it must be me who isn't "searching" topics correctly but for the life in me I cannot use the "search" facility with any success. For example I have been looking for topics on the g/d anglo but when I key in g/d I get zero returns. I can't believe that this topic has never been covered at least once. What am I doing wrong? Thanx, Mike Delta

Thanx, Mike Delta Mike I don't think it's you. Somewhere back in memory I seem to recall that the search needs more than three characters to function. Thus "keys" will return posts and "key" will return nothing. I can't recall where I came up with that although I think it's a default of the search engine. I don't know if it has been changed with upgrades to the software either. Thanks Leo Edited March 28, 2007 by Leo
dpmccabe Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) Most forums' search capabilities are awful. You can specify the scope of a Google search to just one part of a website, though. For instance, you would enter this into the search box: inurl:concertina.net/forums "g/d" (The quotes around the "g/d" search for that exact text, not "g" and "d" individually.) You'll have to click on "repeat the search with the omitted results included" to get a healthy 5000 results. Edited March 28, 2007 by dpmccabe
