Concertina Stolen!

ATTENTION!

 

Norman's concertina, whistles, mouthorgans and more have been stolen from his camper van in Glasgow last night. I'll post more information when I get it but if anyone is out and about near the BBC keep your eyes on the look out as I'm sure most of the stuff will have been dumped.

"Stolen from camper van break-in Glasgow early hours of Saturday morning 10th Feb 07

Norman Chalmers’ (of Jock Tamson’s Bairns, the List, Scotland on Sunday reviewer)

- unique instrument case; white Samsonite with heavy shoulder strap covered in dozens of colourful music and international stickers.

 

It contained a Dave Gormlie double-skinned tuneable bodhran drum,

- a Wheatstone black wooden-ended aeola 48 key concertina (ends worn to brown in places)

- master US flute maker Chris Abell’s silver

- and ebony whistles in the key of C and D,

- various other metal and wooden whistles,

- 19th century wooden single-key fife (small flute in B flat)

- various jaw harps,

- various mouth organs including the new Hohner Highlander in its case.

- Also a Microvox microphone pick-up system and pre-amp graphic equaliser,

- and a digital chromatic tuner."

Bad news. Perhaps Norman can advise whether the one or two missing keys at the top end had been replaced, as I noticed that these were missing when I saw his instrument last September.

GOOD NEWS!

 

Some good news.

Someone tried to sell the concertina and whistles to Folk Revolution and they realised that something was amiss.

They managed to purchase them at a very reasonable price (£7) and mamaged to get them back to Norman. Well done Folk Revolution.

 

The drum and electronics are still missing

 

I'll 2nd that - well done Folk Revolution!

 

I wonder if they managed to get the guys fingerprints in the process, or catch them on CCTV?

Thats good news - As long as his dancing partner was returned - that was the best thing in the magic box (despite being a little wooden).
