There are so many tags to search. Thanks for adding. Some new ones I've found this week. Interesting tune From Bolivia. First time I've heard about South American concertina. (Of the kind spoken about in this forum) English Concertina for Beginners Part 5 More Buille celtic sessions-Buille http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOG-p6ZyDRk Buille in Dolans 13-2-07 Part 1 Thanks Leo Edited March 1, 2007 by Leo
m3838 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 How fascinating! From Bolivia! Sometimes the world becomes just a bunch of places, where some rare individuals sit and play concertinas. The rest is unimportant. Am I missing something?
Leo Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) OOPS! Sorry I missed a nice one, but it's worth a look. Niamh Ni Charra CD Launch Killarney 25.02.07 Thanks Leo Edited March 3, 2007 by Leo
Leo Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 Now that was a lovely start to my morning! Mark Then you're going to have a nice afternoon. It seems once Google merged with YouTube, they've been popping up randomly in the most unusual places. Niamh Ni Charra CD Launch Killarney 25.02.07 Thanks Leo
Mark Evans Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) Then you're going to have a nice afternoon. Thanks Leo Absolutely! What a lovely slow air! I'm very impressed with her vibrato. My next statement is inviting a well deserved shot across the bow, but here goes. In the past I've been unimpressed with recorded efforts so far to hear a concertina vibrato that didn't sound artificial. This is altogether different. It is almost like the natural vibrato a voice might make. This lady does a lot of listening and thinking. Guess I'll be buying the CD. Edited March 3, 2007 by Mark Evans
PeterT Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 This lady does a lot of listening and thinking. Guess I'll be buying the CD. Just is case anyone is looking for Niamh's website: http://www.niamhnicharra.com/ Regards, Peter.
Mark Evans Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Just is case anyone is looking for Niamh's website: http://www.niamhnicharra.com/ Regards, Peter. Well, that explains a lot. No wonder she can produce a vibrato like that from a Jefferies: been playin' since she was sprite and plays the absolute fire out of a fiddle. Whew!

Unfortunately the person with the video camera seems to be practising vibrato as well!
Mark Evans Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 [The music is fantastic. Unfortunately the person with the video camera seems to be practising vibrato as well! Yeah, I noticed that. Kinda made me feel a bit woozy.
Guest Mick Diles Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Did someone mention this spectacular video before.
Guest Mick Diles Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 (edited) And how about this one? A PA, Melodeon (?) and an Anglo playing (living) together in peace! Edited March 5, 2007 by Mick Diles
Mark Evans Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 And how about this one?A PA, Melodeon (?) and an Anglo playing (living) together in peace! I quite enjoyed that.
PeterT Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Did someone mention this spectacular video before. Nice! Interesting to see that Niall has a plaster on the Jeffries fretwork, to cover the sharp bit that cuts my little finger. Excuse my ignorance; who is the vocalist? Regards, Peter.
fidjit Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 (edited) Did someone mention this spectacular video before. Ooooh! A bluesy concertina! I like it. Have to try that. Chas Edited March 5, 2007 by fidjit
m3838 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Did someone mention this spectacular video before. Ooooh! A bluesy concertina! I like it. Have to try that. Chas That guy with an Anglo, he's known for jazzyfying the Irish music, if I'm not mistaken. His work is awesome. All of them are very good, and seems like they enjoy playing together. Now if only he would modify his concertina to have that pitch bending mechanism - he'll put the concertina world upside-down. Just imagine! As they say in Russia, it'll be a storm in the glass of water, but a nice one. Now, on a side note, why is it that PA players always dabble as Piano players? I'd be more impressed, if that man played a fiddle, and a fiddle player dabbled on PA, no? Or Concertina player as drummer.
