PeterT Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Noel Hill (WOW Superb) Thanks, Leo. Watch the price of 30 key C/G Anglos come down now that Noel has started a trend for 12 key boxes! Regards, Peter.
RatFace Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Added the new ones to the YouTube Concertina group. Thanks
m3838 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 "Outer Limits" - is that a movie? The guy doesn't even imitate the button pressing. And why with all the budget of the life action movie they didn't have the pennies to buy a decent concertina cabinet? What's this "tender voice" of a low end german Anglo? What is the actual instrument played for the soundtrack? Duet or a bunch of clariinets? And why that guy's face was covered with shoe polish? Was it Australian accent? It's been yea-s I hea-d this instrument's tendah voice. From the woods of San Francisco's Chinatown - Happy New Yeah to everybody.

You've got to give the guy credit. Pretty good for a "first night". http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7...rtina&hl=en "Outer Limits" was an old US TV anthology show from the '60s that showed a different short story every week, similar to "Twilight Zone". Thanks Leo

Pretty good for a "first night". http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7...rtina&hl=en Pretty good. But something is telling me it's done by a stern Westerner. Oh, yes, of course!. I don't seem to notice a sight of bottle of vodka anywhere. Nah, you can do better
Leo Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 (edited) Nah, you can do better Ok how about a couple of guys on a boat, with the obligatory lubrication in plain sight: http://youtube.com/watch?v=3KVTUH1MtAw Thanks Leo Edited October 17, 2007 by Leo

Mark Evans Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 a brace of banjos with resonators to boot (lubrication or no) means only one thing...banjo hell! (retreats slowly into the shadows with garlic garland around throat)
Becky Nankivell Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 "Fab Girls of the West" appear to be a contra dance megaband, though playing in concert here, with an EC front and center in the video: Anybody know who that is? ~ Becky Nankivell Tucson, Arizona

Pam
Daniel Hersh Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 (edited) From the tags on the video they appear to be from the Seattle area--maybe a c.netter from there knows them. The Frappr concertina players map shows one female player in that area, named "Molly". Doesn't say whether she plays English or Anglo though. Daniel Edited January 7, 2007 by Daniel Hersh
Pete Dickey Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Another couple for your enjoyment. Afraid they are a bit dark though Pete
David Barnert Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Anybody know who that is? ~ Becky Nankivell Tucson, Arizona Becky, you're the only female concertina player I know west of the Mississippi. I don't know who the 'tina players are in the video, but the caller/fiddler is Dave Kaynor from western Massachesetts.
Michael Reid Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 From the tags on the video they appear to be from the Seattle area I'm pretty sure that the EC player on the left, seen in the opening seconds of the video and again near the end, is Clare Woolgrove, a Seattle Rolfer whom I met in the late 90's when she studied at the Rolf Institute in Boulder.

The same Clare who I met, in Scotland, back in March 1994 (when she was studying in Aberdeen), and who bought a Lachenal Edeophone from me! She's certainly playing a 56 key Lachenal!
Molly Roberts Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 It's not the Molly from the Frappr map. Would that I could keep up with those ladies! Maybe someday. Cheers, Molly
PeterT Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Another couple for your enjoyment. Afraid they are a bit dark though Pete Certainly captures the atmosphere of a pub session. Thanks, Pete. Gives a second reason for playing a metal-ended instrument in a dark pub session - reflected light, so you can actually see the instrument. Regards, Peter.
