Geofflowes Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I require advice on removing rust spots from concertina reeds.I read in my maintenance manual about a 'fibreglass brush'. Is there someone in Australia who can advise where I can get one of these? Any other advice will be very much appreciated. Geoff.
stella24 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 If you live where there are electronic specialty shops, they sometimes carry these pens to clean metal before soldering. Other shops that have these are RC car and boat hobby shops. they use them to clean the commuters. (sp) Of course, you can order them online from these sources, but the shipping costs as much as the tool. They are the best for the job though. w.
Stephen Chambers Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 (edited) Any other advice will be very much appreciated. Geoff, Any rust on the reeds is going to put them out of tune, and removing the rust isn't going to solve that problem (and could make it worse!) So the instrument is likely to need tuning.
