Woody Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Anybody going to the West Country Concertina Players' Concertina Weekend at Kilve next weekend? - W
Chris Timson Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I'm not but I can tell you that Colin and Rosalie Dipper are. You might want to talk to Colin about getting that 26 button Jones bushed by him. He bushed mine and it made a real improvement to it. Chris

Well, if the real Chris Timpson isn't going to Kilve, who is? Me, for a start. I will be there, Woody and so will about 60 others, so my informant tells me. It promises to be a good weekend. See you there. Chris PS After all that bushing, Chris, surely you must be bush-wacked?

I enjoyed the Kilve weekend too, especially the late night bar sessions. Sunday lunchtime, I found myself sitting at a table with three other guys, one of whom turned out to be Woody, himself! He recognised me by my Sparkling repartee. I didn't recognise Woody, however, because he has grown a small beard since his C.net photo was posted and the rainbow halo that surrounds him in the photo, is also missing! Or were you simply in disguise, Woody, eh? Oh, and Dirge was there too! Anyone else own up to being there? Chris

Or were you simply in disguise, Woody, eh? Oh, and Dirge was there too! Anyone else own up to being there? It's less that I've grown a beard - rather that I hadn't bothered to shave My halo had gone in search (in vain) for a decent joke Dirge was so traumatized that he's emigrating to New Zealand. I also met wolosp for the first time which was nice, but a bit odd as he only lives about 4 miles from me and Kilve is 74 miles further away.

Paul Woloschuk Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I also met wolosp for the first time which was nice, but a bit odd as he only lives about 4 miles from me and Kilve is 74 miles further away. Just recovering after the weekend - not quite sure whether it was Kilve's fizzy-pop beer or Paul McC's Duet workshops that fried my brain! Good to meet up at last Woody - great idea those name badges Best of luck to Dirge - keep in touch through c.net eh?
Woody Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 (edited) Concertinas at Malmesbury 2007? Thanks, but no thanks. Going to Kilve gets me out of my fatherly duties for a few days of freedom Hi Paul - good to meet you too. I'll second the good luck message to Dirge. Who knows, when he gets there he may work out how to log back into C.net again Edited October 24, 2006 by Woody

Dirge Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 (edited) Look, I've managed to get under the security barriers! Thanks for the good wishes, you two; Kilve was fun wasn't it? For the rest of you one of the unlikely moments. Kilve Court stands out on its own and was booked purely for concertina-related events that weekend. At 2 in the morning the music was flowing well in the bar and someone started banging on the ceiling to try and get us to shut up. There was a short pause while we considered whether we were being unreasonable, came to the conclusion that we were behaving exactly as expected at a residential concertina weekend and carried on. Half an hour passed enjoyably, then a little old lady comes into the bar to complain that she can't sleep! (had it taken her half an hour to get dressed?) We were down to the last dozen or so players by then so we went to the other end of the room and shut a room divider to keep her happy. Edited October 28, 2006 by Dirge

I presume, from the tone of your posting, that she was not a concertina player. So, what was she doing at Kilve on that particular weekend? Regards, Peter.
Dirge Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 No she was one of us; I saw her the following day clutching an English. An unfortunate dormatory placing I think, bad luck for everyone. Still, she'll know to ask not to be above the bar next time. Hope it didn't completely ruin it for her!
Woody Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 Look, I've managed to get under the security barriers! We're going to have to get some bigger Bouncers! Nice to see you back in the fold (term useful in New Zealand - used to apply to somewhere you keep your more fluffy close personal friends )
