They Might Be Giants / Mad Caddies

My friend and I are trying to learn a few songs, most notably "Particle Man" by They Might Be Giants and "Weird Beard" by the Mad Caddies.

What are the chances that a TMBG and/or Mad Caddies fan is out there who has (or can?) figure out the concertina/accordion parts to those songs?

I haven't had my 30 button Anglo for very long and, as such, haven't been able to figure out the various chords used in the songs. Thanks. :)

Is this the version of "Particle Man"? I remember my son watched this when he was growing up. Tiny Tunes with baby taz playing squeezebox. I think it's the tune to "Spiderman, Spiderman, does everything a spider can" by Aerosmith?

Physics, and Tiny tunes, what a mix.

Thanks

I once dressed as Particle Man for a costume party about 15 years ago, but I never tried to play the song... It shouldn't be that hard.

If you do a search for: "particle man" chords, you will have a start. Working out the melody sounds like a good ear training exercise!

Under They Might be Giants there is a zip file of Midi that includes Particle Man. It is a shortened version of the tune, but it includes the accordion parts here:

If you don't have the capability now, this software will put the score on the screen in front of you:

Catchy tune; sounds nice on a concertina.

This site has a tune that might be the correct "Weird Beard". Just a guess, I can't tell:

The impossible just takes a little longer.

Thanks

Nalzalk:

Thank you you're correct:

Sorry it took so long; busy and all. Yes the Ramones had a version; Perhaps this abbreviated lineage will clarify. I hope so:

For the 1967 TV series: The theme song lyrics were written by Paul Francis Webster, while the music was composed by Bob Harris, Stu Phillips, and D. Kapross.

The Ramones had a "hidden soundtrack" version in 1995 on their album "Adios Amigos"and their 1996 "Greatest Hits Live". Aerosmith played it for the soundtrack of the 2002 film and Joe Perry performed a new theme song for the 1994 animated series; predating the Ramones by a year or so depending on the month. Rumor has it that all the versions are loosley based on Charlie Mingus's 1959 "Boogie Stop Shuffle", and Dave Brubeck's 1961 "Bru's Boogie Woogie". All the versions sound so similar to "Particle Man" (1990 feature on Tiny Tunes), you would expect they are the same tune with different lyrics. All in all a pretty old tune with lots of variance. I lost count at 25 versions since 1967.

Hope this clarifies

Cheers

Thanks
