Dirge
I'd like a cheap 'give him the feel' instrument for a Godson. He's been watching me play my duet with great interest. I'm particularly after a Jackie because I want the instrument to be genuinely playable but it's got to be expendable; I want it to go in the car, down to the beach, out on scout camps and the like without parents saying 'do you think you should take the concertina, dear, it might get damaged'. So I'm after the instrument that you've moved on from (but NOT worn out) so that I don't have to invest too much in this gesture. Cosmetics aren't important, I'm expecting (hoping even) that it'll get bashed arround, but it must play. What have you got?
Geraghty
Chris Algar (Barleycorn Concertinas) has a Jackie on ebay right now: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jackie-English-Conce...1QQcmdZViewItem
Dirge
Thanks for that, I hadn't seen it. That's probably shinier/pricier than I need (I suspect quite a lot of would-be bidders will look at £125 & post and just go and buy a new one instead) but I might well ring Chris if nothing turns up in the hope he has a scruffbag one. m3838
The price is $233 now. To pay with Pounds one has to pay some $10 plus shipping some $30. The price for new is $280 plus free shipping. Unless you're in the UK and nearby....
Dirge
I know, that's the way I thought it out too. Pushing his luck a bit I thought, but you do get people who simply don't check these things out and it is still a saving. Not enough to interest me, though! Dirge
So, no one got anything to offer me then? Or know of a mate flogging one?
Dirge
Cor! £140 plus post for a very clean but still second hand one. And there's me thinking I'd ring Chris A. and offer £100 posted WHEN it didn't sell...
