d.elliott Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 For some time David Leese (sponsor of this site) has been selling a relative low cost bellows core that you can fit to bellows frames yourself, to be then papered by yourself in which ever paper design that you feel appropriate. The draw back with these bellows has been that the bellows are made from runs of 'cards' that are not seperated, but are scored to facilitate bending where traditionally taped joints would exist. This has made the bellows slower to 'bed in' than conventional build and stay more resistive in play for longer, unless they are stored tightly closed and pressed together. There are some key benefits of this design, mainly the ease of fitting to the bellows frames, and the universal nature of the kit David has now produced a more up-market version of the same kit where all the benefits are the same as described above, but the runs of card are made in the traditional way from lots of seperately taped cards. The kit cost differential is £30 GB. I have just recieved my first set of these improved bellows and I am impressed, and thus spreading the good word. The original design is still available at the original cost, and the imprvoved items are sold as an option. He is also working on an all-black option as well hope that this is of interest to people Dave
Robin Harrison Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 ....................I've had a set of these for a couple of months on a lovely 32 button Lachenal. I am VERY pleased with them. Highly recommeded. Robin
