Stephen Chambers
And I'm in a temporary shop, open 2.00 'til 6.00 each day, at "Canada Cross" (that's the crossroads where you turn off for Lahinch along the main street) in Miltown Malbay. I'm in the front room of the yellow house on the corner of the main street and Ballard Road. There will be one of my new Triskel concertinas on display, for anybody to try out who's interested... Saw Peter Laban today.
Guest Peter Laban
I have seen both Mark and Stephen. But maybe more interesting in the light of recent 'young players' and 'looking for the next generation' threads here is how the trend of young concertinaplayers is progressing if the grading proceedings for the Willie week's concertina lcasses is anything to go by. Number were once again up and up to an extend the grading could not take place in the usual classroom as this would not by far hold all concertinaplayers waiting to get in. Noel Hill dragged the lot out to the school's basketball pitch and split up the group in more workeable groups according to the number of years playing under their belt before grading them into classes. Anyhow, there must have been at least 80 concertinaplayers there, the vast majority of them in the 6-14 age bracket. No worry about a next generation there I would think. No worry about a next generation there I would think. Indeed so, the concertina seems to be hugely popular with young players in Ireland these days, at the expense of the accordion and other instruments (and at plenty of expense to the young players' parents. )

John Wild
The youngest busker in town today and she had a few nice polkas going too: Is the one on the right trying to play a miniature concertina vertically?
