Chris Drinkwater Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Dick, I understand that you have produced a tutor book for the EC. Can you tell me more about it please? I posted a similar message a few days ago to both you and Allan Atlas and never got a reply, which surprised me. As you are such a regular forum contributor, I would have expected you to see it! Hope and pray you get to read this and reply. Chris
allan atlas Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Dear Chris: just saw your memo. . . . .the title of the tutor is: CONTEMPLATING THE CONCERTINA: AN HISTORICALLY-INFORMED TUTOR FOR THE ENGLISH CONCERTINA. . . .published by the Button Box in 2003. . . . unlike some of the recent tutors, it is NOT intended for the beginner. . . . .rather, it tries to make good concertina players BETTER concertina players. . . . . .in part by asking what we can learn from some of the nineteenth-century tutors. . . . . . some people have criticized it on the grounds that it is a bit short on "rules" and leaves too much to the player. . . . obviously, i think that that's healthy................. Allan

Allan Thank you both Allan and Dick for your kindly and informative replies. Is The Button Box the sole purveyor of your tutors? Does anybody in the UK sell them? Chris
allan atlas Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 CHRIS: there's a place called the Music Room. . . maybe in Cleckheaton. . . .if you go to the ICA homepage. . . .and then to PICA. . . .then to vol. 1. . . . then to advertisements. . . .you'll find it. . . . .
Chris Drinkwater Posted June 17, 2006 Author Posted June 17, 2006 Thanks Dick, Allan and Theo for all your helpful replies. I am in the process of following up your recommendations for sources from which to purchase Dick and Allan's tutors and I shall let you know how I get on in due course. Chris
