PeterT Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 (edited) Latest offering looks like a nice one. Would I be right in thinking that metal hand-rails date from early 20th century (i.e. replacement ) whilst the fretwork suggests a pre 1893 instrument? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...mMakeTrack=true Edited June 6, 2006 by PeterT
JimLucas Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 cocoa111 bought at £3500. And since his final recorded bid was the standard increment over the next-highest, it's possible that he was willing to pay more, though how much more we don't know. But I like that the first bid was £12.00.
Stephen Chambers Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 But I like that the first bid was £12.00. I've bought then for that kind of money, though not recently ...
Chris Drinkwater Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 But I like that the first bid was £12.00. Well, you've got to start somewhere Jim. 12 Aldershot Road, Kilburn, Jeffries last premises address, is about 5 mins walk from where I live. It's just an ordinary late Victorian terraced house, similar to mine. I don't know in which part of the house the concertinas might have been made, or whether there was a workshop out back but I've often wondered whether it would be worthwhile lifting the floorboards to see if there is anything worthwhile hidden underneath! Maybe someone has already had the idea and done it. I found an old pair of wooden shoe/boot stretchers hidden under some floorboards in my hall during an electrical rewire. So, you never know. They do make a percussive sound when you bang them together but it's not as nice as a concertina sound. Chris
