David Barnert Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Does anyone know the name of this tune? The A part sounds like a variant of "Berentanz" (Bear Dance), which I first learned on the cello. Here's the abc, and a QuickTime sound file is attached. David Barnert Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I just noticed that when I open your MIDI file ("tune.mid") the window it opens in has the name "Dick's Pig" across the top of it. That name means nothing to me, but perhaps that might shed light on the answer to your question. I just searched for "Dick's Pig" in John Chambers' Tune Finder which found nothing and google which found a couple of recordings of a tune called "Dick's Pig" but no sound files.
Jim Besser Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Does anyone know the name of this tune? As usual, David is right. I learned this as 'Berendanse.' I've heard variants of the B part; this one sounds similar to the version I play.
