Bruce McCaskey Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I hesitate to mention it because of the reaction some have to the store, but Lark in the Morning carries it in their online catalog too: The Seaman's Concertina Instructional Video! A Beginning Guide To The Anglo Concertina In The Nautical Style with John Townley. #LAR017 $29.95 They also offer "The Seaman's Fantasy"- Songs Of The Sea From The 18th & 19th Centuries by John Townley & Jehan Paul - 30 minutes: "A collection of wonderful old sea songs sung in harmony by two great musical characters with concertina and button accordion accompaniment." I purchased the "Seaman's Fantasy" video a few years ago but wasn't impressed. I think my biggest complaint was the audio quality (seemed a bit colorless/muddy and the instruments sometimes overpowered/covered the singer). Certainly the "musical characters" descriptor is apt for the performers. I don't suggest that my reaction to the "Fantasy" should make you reconsider the instructional video, I've not seen the latter and so can't judge it. Bruce

Bruce I have the Seaman's Instructional video. I found it pretty useful to give you an idea on how to accompany singing on the anglo. I think you learn a little from any of these books and videos.
