Henk van Aalten
After hearing both recordings of Al and Jody of the Kost er C'hoat dance tunes. Alan and I got (simultaneously) the idea to combine the recording. As a result I imported both tracks in Audacity and found to my surprise that the overall tempo of both was almost equal, but the tempo between start and finish was at certain points in the tune rather different. Anayway some cutting, pasting, inserting silence gave an acceptable result that maybe can improved. Both Jody and Al were (pleasantly) surprised by the result, so here it is: Alan and Jody as a digital duo, playing a Kost er C'hoat tune To hear them at best, it is advised to use headphones. Jody is playing on one side and Al from the other. Funny that this is also true for the ocean between them (when I have time left, I will try to improve the mix) Edited January 20, 2006 by Henk van Aalten

I assume it is the way in which the boxes were recorded, but the instument on the right side has an almost "wet" sound. I know that's not possible because there is only one reed per note, but it is an interesting contrast in styles and sound and very pleasing together. This might encourage other trans Altantic collaborations! Edited January 20, 2006 by Mark Evans

Mark Evans
Yes, I think that must be it Jim. Henk, after a second and third listening, I'm very impressed with your editing skills. Bravo!
Henk van Aalten
This might encourage other trans Altantic collaborations! In fact it shows the feasibility of the C.Net Virtual Big Band. Mind you.. those guys did record without a master-tune or ticker-track for synchronization!! Henk, after a second and third listening, I'm very impressed with your editing skills. Bravo! Well.. it was real fun to do it
Alan Day
Now somewhere I have got Jody,Myself and Henk playing his CG in the upper register against the two GDs. Now what have I done with it? I remember now, Henk still has it. A few more playing the chorus (B part) would be rather nice. Big Band by stealth? Would I do such a thing?
