Rhythm Lackey Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 I have a Jones 26-button C/G Anglo and I am trying to figure out how to find it's serial number. The only identifying charactreristics are the oval inset which refers to 300 Commercial Rd. which I take it identifies it as having been built after 1874 when the addresses were renumbered. Where can I locate the serial number, if any? Rhythm Lackey
Chris Timson Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 My Jones 26 button G/D (probably Ab/Eb originally) has no serial number. DId Jones concertinas actually have serial numbers, as a general rule? Chrid
Roger Digby Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 A 33key bone-buttoned Jones Anglo (C/G, five-fold bellows, Commercial Rd.) came up for sale in Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago. The serial no. was on the woodwork inside and I asked Wes Williams for an estimated date. He reckons it was made around 1890/1900; he has a small section on Jones in his 'dating' article on this site. Best wishes, Roger
