SIMON GABRIELOW Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I have come accross the English Folk Dance and Song Society website pages. [ UK based I think] . The official site I believe; very interesting and full with historical images, and copies of old mauscripts/tunes etc.. Very interesting with mentions of instruments [ concertinas included] and nice layout to read. Lots of images, historical manuscript images.. I am NOT an employee of them, but I am aware of the Socety historically [including Vaughan Wiliam's/ Cecil sharp connection etc].. Have a look for it yourselves? It is a very interesting and useful resource.

wschruba Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I had thought that the logo was familiar--this is the current "home" of the Roud Index, which catalogues mentions of folk music. It is an invaluable tool for the researcher to pin down the origins of individual songs.
Richard Mellish Posted April 6 Posted April 6 When I saw the thread subject I thought it would be about EFDSS's name change to "Folk England". Having failed to get a sufficient majority of votes at the 2025 AGM, preventing them from changing the name of the registered charity, they decided to adopt the new name anyway as a trading name, provoking considerable angst. Then very recently they announced that both their home, Cecil Sharp House (named as a memorial to the man) and the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library, are also to be renamed, provoking considerable annoyance. However there is indeed a massive amount of information from the Library https://www.efdss.org/vwml and if the website is renamed they swear that links will still work.
