Robby-ie Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Very inspiring. Reading this at my barista job... I think I'll make myself a lemon twist espresso. 1
Matt Heumann Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Wonderful, Randy. It reminded me of the first attempt to play in public. It was 1977 & I was very shy and didn't want to be a performer, but I schlepped down to the new Farmer's Market at the former Ypsilanti train station. There I sat opposite the market, under a big shade tree, next to a mail wagon & and old caboose. I tied my Irish wolfhound Maggie to the cart, unfolded my stool and began to play, far away from everyone so as not to be intimidated by the crowd. A few people came by, mostly to pet Maggie, but as I was packing up to leave, a representative from the market came up to me with a bag filled with baked goods, fruits, jams & vegetables from the vendors. They also asked if I would come back again and after that summer I was more comfortable playing for people. It wasn't exactly busking, but the goodies were far more appreciated than a box full of money. Thanks for reminding me of those simple, earlier days. 2
