Hi all,

I’ve been looking around for some tango or Bach for anglo, all I found was some pieces from anna-magdalena Bach’s notebook (lots of fun!)have you got any references that would complement that (any Bach, even the sons, and any tangoish music)

I think I’m going to transcribe, but from what instrument?

any advice most welcome

I’ve transcribed many times before from/to piano violin cello

but I have no idea what is considered the best “source” instrument

many thanks

concertina away!

There's a wealth of Bach music everywhere, that is if you look at publications made in instruments, not always  intended ( of course,) for concertinas!

For example sources that may already be presented for ( flute, violin, even recorder) I have found useful over the years. The range seems to work well on concertinas.

...any tangoish music...

Hi. Attached please find a few tango-like tunes. I can't speak for their 'authenticity'. The scores aren't laid out particularly well, but I think you've said you are a professional musician? If that's the case, you won't have a problem transcribing/transposing for whatever instrument/key sig. suits you, but I included the ABC code anyway. The source is identified in each tune, so you should be able to back-track to the original if needed...

Soloduet has recorded quite a few tangos and Bach pieces, but for Hayden Duet - probably adaptable. He's sent me some tango arrangements.

Oh! I forgot this one. 'Last Tango in Harris'. Pushing the definition of 'Tango' a little I guess, but I like the play on words in the title:

this looks wonderful! many thanks!

It's a reel, reelly(🙂) and a bit quirky in this context - which appeals to my sense of humour. I think I may have found LTIH on The Session where there are several settings.

Stretching things (more than) a little🙂, I found a couple more tango-ish tunes. Attached...

Thanks for the heads-up. There have been some changes to DropBox recently which have made it more difficult to use in a way which suits me. This is why I'm slowly moving to GoogleDrive. Send me a PM if you see any more anomalies?

That's me done with the tangos - I had some spare time this morning and fished out a couple more (rather silly) examples.

It goes without saying that there are no nasty people on concertina.net...

Bach: Cello suite no. 3 in C minor is good.

Tango: Por una cabeze, Carlos Gardel is a classic.

For the cello suites it helps if you read bass clef scores, although you'll most likely play an octave up.
