Randy Stein Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Yesterday Jim Besser and I performed as our duet, 2Many Buttons, at this years Folk Society Of Greater Washington's Mini-Fest. The weather was cool and overcast and the crowds for the opening performance (us) were sparce to small but incredibly enthusiastic and engaged. Jim and I try to practice once a week and work on an extensive set of tunes we know and learning new ones, and select what we think will work well for the audience. I am proud to say we didn't disappoint and our playing was spot on. Part of what makes it work, besides practicing the music, is listening closely to each other. Allowing for changes in dynamics and play counter melodies and rhythms, and adding personal accompaniment. This creates a kind of spontaneity in the framework of our music. Good time had by all. 9
Jim Besser Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Randy won the fashion contest with his cool socks and shoes. My Morris kit was just geeky. 1 1
