Admiral.snelson Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Hello, just looking into doing the bushings on my Jones 20 Anglo. Is there a reason the felt needs to be wool? Would a synthetic felt like polyester be ok?
alex_holden Posted November 25 Posted November 25 It should be a woven cloth that has been 'fulled' to give it a fluffy felt-like surface. Something like the baize cloth you get on pool tables. It isn't actually felt, which would fray too easily. I don't think it necessarily has to be made from natural wool fibres.
Peter Smith Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I have used bushing cloth from the Piano Accessory shop (https://www.pianoaccessoryshop.co.uk/product/bushing-cloth-strips-0-85mm-1-8mm-for-flange-keys/?v=7885444af42e) They offer a variety of thicknesses & I have used 1mm (rather than 0.8mm). I cut strips on the diagonal and it seems to work OK and doesn't fray. I have also used the same cloth for dampers.
