Caldeer Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Hello! New to this community and looking to purchase a first Anglo concertina as a gift for someone. I'd welcome any leads on a Rochelle 2 (or a great deal on something fancier for a beginner -- Anglo). Or even a multi-month rental if possible.... Thanks in advance!
Tim McNinch Posted November 20 Posted November 20 A while back, @Mandolinguist had a Rochelle 2. Perhaps they are still looking to sell it... My two cents: The Rochelle 2 is probably the best quality starter. You might also consider the McNeela concertinas. They get mixed reviews here (quality control and durability issues), but on the other hand if you go for a Swan or Phoenix, the quality seems generally good for a starter. I have a friend who plays a Swan, and it's fine—for now. The best thing McNeela has going for them is that you can generally get them (other builders have significant waiting lists) and though they cost more than a Rochelle, you can save quite a bit with a Black Friday / Christmas deal. Beware, though. Once you're on the McNeela email list, they have fairly aggressive marketing. (Oh, and these days there are also tariffs to consider ) 1

Yeah, the tariff situation has discouraged me from looking abroad, for the time being. I appreciate your insights!
Mandolinguist Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Hey, I've still got one for sale. ( @PaulDa321 Παῦλε, χάριν σοι ἔχω ὡς νῦν μιμνησκομένῳ με! [a hexameter 4 u :0]) Feel free to pm me for price. It's in good condition and plays well; nothing broken.
Deen Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Hello, I was just coming here to list mine. I have a permanent injury to my left hand and am no longer able to play. I purchased it directly from Concertina Connection and it's in perfect condition. Please PM me to discuss. 1
