Jane_in_UK Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Hi all, At the ripe old age of 60 I've decided that I want to learn the concertina, and I've set my heart on a 30 button C/G anglo. I'm going to try and hire one in the first instance but if, after a few months of hire, I want to commit to a purchase, do you have any recommendations for a reputable retailer or concertina enthusiast in East Anglia (preferably Norfolk/Suffolk) who sells quality new or reconditioned/second hand concertinas? Thanks in advance for your help and advice, Jane
AndrewCollins Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Good luck with learning the Anglo You could talk to David Robertson ( outskirts of Norwich ) or Mike Acott ( Hacheston nr Woodbridge ) who both do restoration work and may have instruments for sale. I know they are both members here - so you could message them. Andrew
arti Posted July 17 Posted July 17 See: Concertinas for Hire - East Anglian Traditional Music Trust ( includes a 2nd mention for Mike Acott )

I've contacted EATMT and SqueezEast to see if they have any C/G Anglos to hire; I'm waiting for them to get back to me. Hopefully they will, but if not, I'll take the plunge and buy one without a prior trial playing period.
Phil Hague Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Not in your area, but Barleycorn Concertinas have a huge stock, well worth ringing before you commit.
