rcr27 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Hi, does anyone in the UK make bellows with this specific gold tooling pattern?
Stephen Chambers Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Over the years there were numerous variations on that design, which came to be regarded as "Jeffries pattern" - but it wasn't specific to any particular maker and the stamping tools would have belonged to bookbinders who carried out such work for them.
rcr27 Posted July 15 Author Posted July 15 (edited) Yeah this one is Keith, Prowse & Co (which I understand weren’t makers themselves). Jones I believe had their own? Edited July 15 by rcr27
4to5to6 Posted July 15 Posted July 15 (edited) I have seen a similar pattern used by George Case. I’ll check. I have a Keith Prowse that was made by Lachenal. It is basically an Inimitable with some nice extra features. i do plan on making some tooling stamps like this but it will be at least another 6 months. Found it… my double chambered (extra wide) George Case and a Jeffries… very close: Edited July 24 by 4to5to6
