I have often had a look in a'Conceritna library' an online resource.  Concertina library digital reference [www.concertina.com ]

To me it is quite interesting and nice to read [like an on screen book design] with images and other related items for concertina]. On my set  up I get  a message about it being 'not secured' - yet it seems ok to me when  have looked on it. There's a lot of interesting information on the site.

I have not designed it myself - I just wondered if anyone else has seen this online resource? I think it has been going for a long time.

Bob Gaskin's site was originally based around (and called after) the Maccann Duet, but he managed to free up the 'concertina.com' web address. Unfortunately after Micro$oft 'updated' the software used to manage it - so it wasn't backward compatible - Bob couldn't update it after 2007.

I have seen this text in notices when visiting a site where the address begins http://

It seems sites get classed a not secure if they do start with https://

Basically this means that the site does not have an SSL certificate installed. This means that all communication with the site is in plain text and not encrypted. For ordinary data this doesn't matter. It does matter if you've got passwords or are doing web commerce as the traffic is not secure.

In general many hobby sites have difficulty with SSL certificates either because they use a simple server or they are not configured properly. It usually doesn't matter but don't buy anythingfrom them or give out any important details.

Thanks everyone for all your input. I found that site by chance and find it has nice layout design, without the usual bland text design.(no hard to read typeface). A very interesting online 'encyclopedia' in many ways.

It's a shame they always update the tech stuff, and maybe it should have been made into a hard copy instead (in print)?
