Doug Barr Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Hi all Just throwing this out there. I would like to find out some info about a Wheatstone Anglo Mini #54553. The Wheatstone ledgers don't seem to cover that serial number. Is there another source for information. I am familiar with Randy's work about mini concertinas. Is anyone out there a previous owner or have any information/history about this instrument. I bought it from the button box many years ago and know that it was previously owned by Howie Leifer(RIP). Doug from the BB said it was probably made in the 1950's. Thanks Doug Barr mini notes.docx
wes williams Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Randy has now retired from active research. I have only a little info to go on from Bob Gaskins article which sets it about 1952. 2
Doug Barr Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 Thanks Wes. I did see that. I wonder what happened to the log with those numbers. Ledger SD04 starts 1953 and at the number 55492. SD03 covers 1937-1973 but no numbers in the 50,xxx. Thanks Doug
wes williams Posted June 17 Posted June 17 From Bob's article etc, Harry Minting passed on lots of earlier Wheatstone ledgers to Neil Wayne which you now see in the Horniman Museum Collection, but Steve Dickinson actually got some later ledgers when he bought the company later. The ~50K ledger was around in Harry's time as manager, as he wrote down year dates based on it, but had gone missing by the time Steve took over. Perhaps the ~50K ledger got junked as it was no longer active. 1
4to5to6 Posted Sunday at 11:12 PM Posted Sunday at 11:12 PM I’m curious… what is it’s measurement across the flats? I own a 25 key English piccolo that is amazing, not to mention rare and a 12 key miniature English that is the funnest little instrument to play! I think it has about a 12 fold bellows. Both are Aeolas like your’s.
