Hello,

I have been toying around with a cheap concertina-shaped object from gear4music for the past 2 years and finally decided that I do want to progress to a better instrument. After searching the internet and this forum I have decided on the Clare from ICC. I have found it on this web site, but it seems broken. I have contacted (I presume) Sean by e-mail to place the order. But now I'm thinking about the non-functionality of the web site and I'm not sure whether that is his actual web site - since it is broken. Can someone confirm that it is the real deal? I wouldn't want to send what is for me a very significant amount of money to an interloper...

Thanks,

Zdenek.

Yes, the page looks fine, it's only when I tried to check out that I was unable to fill in my details. But I guess it's just because the majority of people buy in the store. Well, thanks for confirmation. I am really looking forward to having a concertina where the buttons don't get stuck and the "wood" is not paper! :-)

The Clare is a good choice. That link loaded strangely for me as well. You may just want to call during business hours.

I can now confirm that it is legit, Sean had a second-hand Clare available at a discount to send right away, and it arrived today, even with a nice box which I didn't expect at all! It sounds and plays so much better than my previous concertina it feels like a completely different instrument! It does, however, miss every other screw from the face plates (so all together 6). I wonder whether this is intentional or an oversight from maintenance. I did send him an email asking about this, but overall it is just fantastic.

He just sent me 6 screws through the mail (I am in the Czech Republic - so quite a ways away!). I would have been completely fine just going to a hobby store and buying some, but he sent them no questions asked.

I had a 2017 Clare with some really supple bellows and tall, narrow buttons. Took me awhile to get used to the buttons, but I kind of miss it now, even though I have the Vintage. They both have benefits.  Enjoy it!
