is there a tendency for anglos to have more range or is it just a matter of how many reeds they fit in as to how many notes one can play. Any thoughts from people who own and use how they end up using them?

With an Anglo you tend to need slightly fewer buttons for a particular range because some notes are only available in one direction (i.e. there is only one reed in the instrument that plays a particular note), whereas with an English you need at least two reeds for every note (some of the accidentals are duplicated too). Duets are usually less efficient again because they have an 'overlap' range of notes that are duplicated on both hands. Also smaller Anglos (less than 30 buttons) aren't fully chromatic, i.e. some of the accidental notes are left out, reducing the number of playable keys without reducing the range. There also tends to be a jump between the lowest note and the second lowest note on each row. A single row 'Anglo' (probably more accurate to call it a German) would be the most efficient because there are no duplicate reeds, though it is also the least versatile because it can only play in one key.

Anglo minis are very rare! The one on ebay is a late ( not so good ) one and English-system and has seen a lot of use... You may have noticed that I am selling various mini-Aeolas ( English-system ). Prices negotiable...
