Lisa Gutkin (fiddle) and Jody Kruskal (Anglo concertina) play “Springfield” composed by the talented Old-Time fiddler Erynn Marshall

Hi Jody

I have listened to this a few times now, I think the tune, the playing, the video and the whole vibe is just exquisite. Concertina and fiddle together -could hardly be bettered. Many thanks.

Hi Tiposx, I'm so pleased that you liked it. I've been playing with Lisa for decades but far too rarely. I was to play a wedding near her place and we got together before my gig. What an amazing performer she is.

Jody Kruskal plays Hole in the Wall on the G/D Anglo concertina. This tune is currently a popular English country dance though written by Henry Purcell hundreds of years ago. It’s the hornpipe from his Abdelazer suite, played SLOW with a flexible tempo.

Your slower version makes me think think Purcell and Pachelbel were hangin' out together since Hole in the Wall and Pachelbel's Canon share a lot of phrasing and were both written about the same time.

Being a former Natural Science teacher and Field Naturalist, I concur! Maybe they shared a scandalous gene pool, hence the similarities (or maybe they were just shacking up).
