conzertino Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I'm selling another rare instrument from my collection. This time you will have to guess what it is. Only those who know my preferences might come close...
Geoff Wooff Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I estimate this one is 7.5" across. The keyboard position, in relation to the thumbstraps, suggests a normal 56 Treble but is it large enough to be a Baritone ? Perhaps something really unusual..... like a double reeded Piccolo ?
conzertino Posted April 10 Author Posted April 10 Another hint: 8" across the ends... The ledger suggests that it is a model 20a ( extended baritone ) - which it isn't!!
4to5to6 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Key of F maybe? (B and Bb reeds swapped, D# reeds tuned down to Db) I know what you like
conzertino Posted April 11 Author Posted April 11 John pinned it! He knows my preferences... It is a F-tenor the size of a baritone. If you pick it up and play, it sounds a fifth below treble. It is a wonderful range to play in or sing to without having to transpose. I had several F-Tenor Lachenals, but I have never seen an original F-tenor Aeola. Steve Dickinson offers new instruments alternatively as 48-key tenor or tenor treble! The big advantage of this particular instrument is, that it has more than enough air ( seven fold big bellows )! I also have 48 key F-tenors, but they are smaller than normal 56-key tenor trebles and lack air for chord-work... This certainly is a unique instrument for a F-tenor connisseur;-) It could easily be changed to 56-key tenor treble - but in my opinion it would be a shame... I'm asking 4000€...
