smallcoals Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I’ve been looking for a nice piccolo English concertina, for playing not collecting would like to find a ‘nice’ one but anything considered Rob
conzertino Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I do have possibly the finest and rarest piccolo concertina or even concertina for sale: an Amboyna-ended 48 key Aeola piccolo with gold-keys and gold-stamped bellows! It was restored twice, by Wim Wacker and Steve Dickinson and is in perfect condition in a perfect leather-box. You can see and hear her at the end of this video. 1
Matthew Heumann Posted April 1 Posted April 1 There is also available from concertinashop.com.au (but they must sell as a pair): AEOLA PICCOLO S/no 31355 AEOLA TREBLE s/no 31358 ENGLISH Made in 1926 for Cecil Astley, white Erinoid with buff bellows in original double case
4to5to6 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 (edited) You won’t regret getting a piccolo! They are so much fun! And it even got my wife playing the concertina again… she thinks they are so cute 🥰 From the grateful owner of a 48 key gold ended 5-1/2” and a 25 key plus air 2 octave 4” (thank you conzertino!). . It’s a nice box, I’ve a nickel allergy so it would suit me down to the ground
djangojessie Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Here is a scan of a letter from Frank Butler in 1959 that might be of some interest here. It came with the Astleys aeolas Patrick and Chris The concertina shop
Ken_Coles Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Stewart Dean (sdean.net) of New York state has had a piccolo EC on offer for a while. Ken
conzertino Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I'm fine to sell the Amboyna piccolo - the problem is that I paid far to much! It came from the private collection of a wellknown dealer and was done up again by Steve Dickinson... I was told that someone offered 4 EE TT Aeolas for it, and he wouldn't part...

Fue restaurado dos veces por Wim Wacker y Steve Dickinson y se encuentra en perfecto estado en una caja de cuero impecable. Podrás verla y escucharla al final de este vídeo. Concertino Please could you send me the current audio and a quote so I know how much it would cost to play that marvel. Thank you. I'm in Barcelona right now.

Most of Frank Butler's collection of concertina related stuff went to one of the national 'libraries' in Scotland, but I don't know if the music was part of it.

Oh, thanks! That's interesting. For some reason, I thought Neil Wayne had been the recipient of all things Frank Butler (but I can't remember why I think that). I sense a story sits behind this comment, maybe one for a different thread or a private conversation?
