4to5to6 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) I’m searching for an early George Case treble English with the double chambered reed pans preferably as complete as possible, all original and unrestored but any condition is okay. Some inside sample screen shots stolen from different locations (please forgive me): . Edited April 2 by 4to5to6
Nigel Champion Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Hi 4to5to6. There's a George Case concertina on our local (NZ) version of eBay, etc: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/music-instruments/instruments/other/listing/5255069523 I should imagine a double-chambered concertina would have deeper bellows frames. The concertina is part of the sale of a deceased estate by a family member who knows nothing about concertinas. I have no connection with the seller. Good luck Nigel
4to5to6 Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Thanks Nigel. Looking at the end frames, I don’t believe this one has the double chambered reed pans. Too bad… good price at 600 NZD. Here’s some photos of the deeper bellows end frames:
Paul_Hardy Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Over time, I have acquired three George Case double-chambered trebles, plus a GC baritone (single chambered). I have a brass-reeded GC 2760 (https://pghardy.net/concertina/case_2760/case_2760.html) which is currently my favourite round the house instrument, and not for resale. I might consider selling GC 2420 (https://pghardy.net/concertina/case_2420/case_2420.html) which is on the 'pending restoration' shelf in my man-shed at present - I've replaced pads and some springs, and intending to replace valves and retune. I also have a steel-reeded GC 3087 (https://pghardy.net/concertina/case_3087/case_3087.html) which has never been retuned from old philharmonic pitch to A=440. I might also consider selling this one. Where do you live? My email address is at the bottom of https://pghardy.net/ if you want to discuss privately.
nkgibbs Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Dear 4to5to6, If 2420 doesn't work out, I also have an unrestored (but in excellent condition) George Case double-chambered treble. Neil
