Rick Fitzsimmons Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) I bought this concertina in December, 2024 for my wife from Bob Tedrow. Due to physical limitations, she is unable to play this fine instrument. This is a Lachenal 48-key English concertina with metal buttons, rosewood ends and 5-fold bellows. The reeds are steel in brass frames. The serial number is 48812 and my guess is that it was built circa 1910. The concertina has been restored sometime in the recent past (no details available to me) and the notes all speak and are in tune. The D#'' (right site) reeds have been removed to provide an air button. Hard case included. Bob Tedrow Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Gentle Reader, When I sold that concertina, I found it to be an excellent example of the genre and fully functional. As it was little played over a short period, I’ve no reason to expect otherwise in regard to its current condition. To have a similar instrument build to the same degree of exactitude by a contemporary builder of equivalent skill as the original maker would be easily double or better the asking price. Compared to the cost of a set of tires for a pickup truck or to replace a MAC computer numerous times a decade, this represents true value for your money. All this with the portability of a six pack of beer. Bob Tedrow Bob@homewood.net Homewood Music Http://hmi.homewood.net 1712 28th Ave South Homewood, Alabama 35209 2
