In an effort to break out of my usual folk music genres I'm trying to find some of John Nixon's CDs and having no luck. Does anyone have a lead on where these might turn up second hand or digitally?

For example, Just a Little Jazz or The English Connection, both referenced on this page.

I'm also hunting for the compilation album English International and running into the same problem.

Appreciate the help/recommendations!

Thanks David, indeed, that's about the only recording I can readily find and not really what I'm after. That is, jazz played on a traditional (not MIDI) English concertina.

The CD reviews on that legacy web page are 20 to 28 years old. Few recordings stay in print that long - someone would have to store boxes full of them somewhere while waiting decades to get back what they spent on producing and manufacturing them. The International Collections (Anglo and English) sold out long ago. Some old recordings are available as digital downloads, and as symon says, in the used market. Good luck with the hunt.

English International is available via Amazon UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/English-International-History-Concertina/dp/B001IXVNWW , then click the New or Used links under Audio CD.

The John Nixon CDs may be harder to find - I don't think many were printed.  I have them somewhere...

Perhaps because I'm in the US? the amazon links for used copy of Eng. Intl take me to Richard Carlin's "English Concertina" album (a good, but different, recording, and apparently still available). Trying Amazon US gives same result. But then, I typically do my CD hunting in brick-and-mortar shops.

I'm in the US too, but I found this and the link works for me.  I can't see your screen, of course.  If you're getting to a screen that looks like the one below, click "Audio CD" right under the stars, just above "Currently unavailable", and it should take you to the right place.  But if you click the other "Audio CD" that's farther down the screen (just above "£15.51") you will indeed get the Richard Carlin recording.

If Amazon expects me to spot that as the link of choice, then online shopping is too subtle for this old man. In fact, I see those words under or near the stars on both US and UK amazon pages, but in neither case is it a link for me. Cursor becomes a "i-beam" there and does not link anywhere. Firefox v. 115 on an aging Mac laptop running OS 10.13.

Ken, it looks like you were right and I was wrong.  When I look again, those links (which do work for me in both Chrome and Firefox on Windows 11 - perhaps you're using a pop-up blocker?) show the Richard Carlin CD.   I manually constructed the right equivalent links for English International (for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001IXVNWW?aod=1&ie=UTF8&condition=new ) and  I then see "No featured offers available" for both new and used.  And when I changed my "Deliver to" to a UK postal code, it still shows as unavailable.

Let me reccomend Pietro Valente (Caterina Valente's brother) too - he played gypsy-jazz on English concertina and made a CD "Pietro Valente mit Otto Weiss Trio" that I got directly from him in Germany, but that was many years ago, and he was elderly then.

I have a recollection that both John's CDs were self published, so only a small run was made. I'll try to find out more when I'm a bit more organised.

For a summary of many of John's recordings see here.

Thanks all for the input and recommendations so far. I've had similar issues with the amazon links serving up the wrong album or just being unavailable.

Stephen and Wes, I'll do some searching on those titles when I have a moment.

I will have a look in my collection ,I have quite a lot of old recordings of John and some of his historical pictures. I also have two English Internationals. Shame you are not in the UK.

That's interesting. I was just considering asking if anyone had John's Regondi recordings. There's a hint to them existing in the thread linked to above by Wes.
