Matt Posted January 30 Posted January 30 As there doesn't seem to be much information about the McNeela Regondi English concertina on the web, I asked them a few questions. I thought this might be of interest to folks here: "Our Regondi concertinas are designed here in our workshop by Paraic McNeela. The materials are sourced and manufactured in a variety of locations overseas under our strict supervision. This guarantees the best materials, for the best cost. Then they are finished, assembled and tested here in our workshop in Dublin. The sides of the ends are made of rosewood and the top is made from plywood. The note range is pretty much the same when compared other 38 key English concertinas." https://mcneelamusic.com/concertinas/regondi-english-folk-concertina/
Matt Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Thanks. Yes, I have. That's why I posted about the Regondi here, thinking it might be useful/of interest as there didn't seem to be much information about them floating around here or elsewhere.
Blowandscrape Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I've had a problem with the thumb straps: they are too loose even when done up as tightly as possible. This may be a design fault.
Blowandscrape Posted March 18 Posted March 18 The straps were OK to begin with, but stretched through use. I'd guess that they were adjusted at the factory without consideration of how they might lengthen in time.
Turtle Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I may be too late to this thread, but it is important to note that the "Regondi" concertina does not have the necessary range to play Regondi's music.
fred v Posted March 19 Posted March 19 It is intended for playing folk music. Range is like the fiddle from open G string up to C on the E string or something like that.
