Lappy Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I need to make gaskets between the bellows frames and the button boxes (or whatever they are called). Is chamois ok for this?
jdms Posted January 18 Posted January 18 No doubt you’ll hear some more knowledgeable voices than mine on this shortly, but my impression was that chamois is not only ok, it’s the standard (or at least traditional) material.
Rod Pearce Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) I agree, chamois for the end frame gaskets. The chamois covers the end of the frames and continues down the inside of the frame to form a complete seal with the action box and reed pan - see picture attached from a Lachenal renovation. Frank Edgley Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The critical factor is the thickness of the leather.
